The small garden with many Mediterranean plants was created with a lot of love and gives the calming aroma of Cretan mountain herbs in summer. The olive grove with about 30 trees has been brought back to life in the last 5 years and offers the possibility of producing its own organic olive oil for the whole year.
Even the olive wood that is produced during maintenance is used for the cosy fireplace and as fodder for the neighbour’s sheep – real sustainability! The house is furnished in such a way that it can be inhabited all year round.
Information on equipment
The house consists of basement and first floor. It is characterized by its light-flooded homely atmosphere. in the basement is a living area with kitchen. There is also a bedroom and a guest toilet. Adjoining the living areas is a large balcony with sweeping views of the sea and countryside.
A stone staircase leads to the first floor, where there are also 3 bedrooms and the bathroom. All rooms have balconies with sea or mountain views. In the outdoor area there is a natural garden and the olive grove. In front of the entrance is a terrace with access to the garden.
At the back is a covered carport, which is currently used as a wood storage area. The entire property is fenced. The house has air conditioning and solar hot water heating on the roof.
Location
Melidoni is located at 451m at the eastern end of the municipality of Fres, at the foot of the White Mountains. The seaside resorts of Kalyves and Georgiupoli are both about 20km away. You can reach the beach in 15 minutes by car.
The nearest village, Agios Pantes, has a supermarket, pharmacy and 2 hardware stores. In Vamos, 7km away, there is a bank and the local health centre. Chania is 35km away, the nearest airport is 45 minutes away by car and the nearest hospital is 50 minutes away.
