A traditional building with thick stone walls of 150sqm built in the village of Askordalos or Skordalos on a plot of 240 sqm with an altitude of 228 meters above sea level, 18 kilometers from the city of Chania on the road leading to Omalos and only 1.5 kilometers after the Botanical Park of Crete.
It was built in about 1870 and has been continuously inhabited until the 1960s when it was abandoned for 40 years. In the year 2000 restoration work began of the building, which lasted for almost a year and aimed to restore the building to its original traditional form. The only modification from the old home was to add two baths that were built, one on the ground floor and one on the top floor, strictly within the old outline of the building. Due to the high ceilings and thick walls the home is warm in winter and cool in summer.
The house is built on ground with a large elevation difference, making it look like a ‘staircase’ to the ground giving it the opportunity to have unobstructed views from every part of it. The building is on two floors, the ground floor with 50sqm and the first floor with 100sqm, which is divided into two separate apartments. Its floors on the top level are made of pine boards and bottom level has stone floors. The roof is wooden, made of whole tree trunks – cypresses – and is covered with tiles. There is a large modern kitchen with fitted wood cabinets and all electrical appliances.
It also has a 6.5 sqm independent storeroom, two large fireplaces, with power outlets, large covered terraces, a courtyard from which one can admire the surrounding mountainous area, from the foot of Omalos, down to the sea. It is fully equipped with central heating, air conditioning in every room, wardrobes and all white goods included. The house is fully furnished and some of the old traditional furniture has been restored and still in use.

Ideal for people who love nature and enjoy nature walks in the countryside in an area known for its large variety of herbs, or hiking, as in the surrounding area one can visit many famous and unknown Cretan gorges such as the Black Canyon or the Kidoni Gorge.
