Paidochori is a village in Apokoronas, in the hinterland of Crete, near the borders of the prefectures of Chania and Rethymno. It is located between Nerohori and Agioi Pantes, and until 2010 it belonged to the Municipality of Fre of Chania. The houses in Paidochori are built amphitheatrically on the slope of the White Mountains, at an altitude of 270 meters above sea level.
From Paidochori, the view towards the White Mountains, and the surrounding nature is enchanting. The wild landscape captivates visitors, who come up here, wanting to get a taste of authentic Crete.
The year-round village of Agi Pantes is just 1.5km down the road and is a lowland settlement in the east-central part of the prefecture, west of Vamos, at a junction on the old national road Chania-Rethymno and is about 26 km southeast of Chania. The village has all the necessary amenities such as a supermarket, pharmacy, tavernas, kafenions, hairdresser, petrol station and school. The nearby seaside town of Kalyves (12km), has a lovely, organized beach with water sports facilities. The popular seaside resort town of Georgioupoli is also approximately 15km away.
Chania city and the national airport are only about 40minutes’ drive away.
