The beach is named after the Byzantine church of Agios Onoufrios which is located there and celebrates every June 12th. It is chosen mainly by locals and has a small fishing port at the edge with some benches and trees for shade. Agios Onoufrios beach has a traditional tavern and is organized with showers, changing cabins, parking space and a lifeguard. The beach is accessible by private cars and motorbikes with clear and clean waters, with the beach being awarded several blue flags. It is a peaceful residential neighbourhood with easy proximity to Chania city centre, offering all essential amenities, restaurants, and cultural life while keeping a calm and private atmosphere.
