The main products of the village are oil, wine and citrus fruits. The village was built during the Venetian era, a fact attested by its many Venetian buildings. The inhabitants came from various villages in the prefecture of Chania, as well as from Asia Minor.

In the village of Perivolia you will see ruins of Byzantine churches, but what stands out is the Sinaitic metochia of Agia Triada, which is located between Perivolia and Mournies, Kydonias . It is one of the four independent metochias of the Sinai Monastery in Crete.
